WE HAVE COMPLETED THE FIELD WORKS OF OUR PLASTIC FREE COASTS PLASTIC FREE WATERS PROJECT!

We were at Konyaalti Variant Ekdag Facilities on 26-27 July, And we were at Boğazkent Serik Public Beach on 03-04 August. We have completed our environmental education activities at the public beach!

We completed our 'Plastic-Free Shores, Plastic-Free Waters' project with great pleasure and success, which we carried out in partnership with Antalya Metropolitan Municipality, Turkish Environmental Education Foundation, Blue Flag Turkey and Ecological Research Association, and which was designed to raise awareness of the public with the support of young volunteers to draw attention to plastic pollution in the seas and coasts, on the first week at Antalya Konyaaltı Public Beach,  and on the second week Serik Municipality Bogazkent Public Beach. What we have done;

-Staying at the EKAD camp sponsored by Belek Tourism Investors Association-BETUYAB, we trained our youth on basic ecological footprint, waste-plastics, Blue Flag, and European Environment Agency Marine Litter Monitoring protocol for 2 days.

-We exhibited the alternatives of plastics we use in our daily life with information at the stand we set up on the beach.

-We measured the cleanliness level of the beach numerically at different times of the day.

-We conducted the European Environment Agency Marine Litter Monitoring study, which is a citizen science-citizen science application, and in a half-hour study, 245 metal, 157 paper-cardboard, 767 plastic, 4301 butts, 109 organic, 24 textiles, 36 wood, 15 glass- We found ceramics, 3 rubbers and 156 unidentified objects!

-We held a @larabarutcollection ice cream award cigarette ends collection competition.

-We played the Blue Flag match finder game, the garbage finder game with the children, we did face painting.

-We examined the struggle of the turtle in the sea by telling the tale of environment-sea pollution to the children.

-We measured the level of awareness about beach pollution by surveying beach users.

The partners of our project, which is carried out with the financial support of the Turquoise Coast Environment Fund - Turkey (TCEF), implemented in cooperation with The Conservation Collective, MAVA Foundation, The GEF Small Grants Program (SGP) and the Support Foundation for Civil Society, Antalya Metropolitan Municipality, Turkish Environmental Education Foundation -With the successful cooperation of TÜRÇEV and Ecological Research Association-EKAD, the practices will continue with the campsite support of Belek Tourism Investors Association-BETUYAB.
