Seferihisar is located in the Aegean Region within the İzmir provincial borders. The oldest settlement in the territory of Seferihisar is Teos. It is known that it was founded by the Cretans who escaped from Akalard in 2000 and is a town of Carian. Among the strengths of Seferihisar are branded tangerines, fertile lands, aquariums, damp air, soft climate, sun, geothermal and wind energies. There are 8 Public Beaches operated by Municipality in Seferihisar. 1 in Sığacık, 2 in Akarca, 3 in Doganbey and 2 beaches in Ürkmez have Blue Flag Award. All beaches are suitable for disabled use. There are deck chairs and umbrellas reserved for the disabled, as well as a disabled ramp and wc on the beaches. Gemisuyu Mevkii Public Beach / Akarca has a disabled access ramp to the sea. In terms of sea water quality, our beaches, which are well above the standards, provide lifeguard service throughout the season. Sun beds, umbrellas, showers, dressing cabins and wc are available free of charge during the season.

Turkey Foundation for Environmental Education (TÜRÇEV)


Turkey Foundation for Environmental Education (TÜRÇEV) was established with the aim of launching Blue Flag Program for our country, under the leadership of the Ministry of Tourism in 1993. In the Mediterranean basin in tourism in developed countries has been widespread, healthy swimming water, equipped beach and good environmental management and environmental awareness-raising activities comprising the Blue Flag of the tourism and environmental terms is also important approach and started to work.

Blue Flag

The Blue Flag works towards sustainable development of beaches, marinas and yachts through strict criteria dealing with Water Quality, Environmental Education and Information, Environmental Management, and Safety and Other Services.
The Blue Flag Programme is owned and run by the non-government, non-profit organisation the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE).

Green Key

Green Key is a voluntary eco-label for tourism facilities that promotes sustainable tourism and aims to contribute to the prevention of climate change by awarding and advocating facilities with positive environmental initiatives. Green Key began in Denmark in 1994 and was adopted by FEE in 2002 to become its fifth international Programme. It has since spread to more than 40 countries and continues to grow in numbers and spread across the world.

Young Reporters for the Environment

Young Reporters for the Environment (YRE) is a network of passionate young people educating for sustainable development by producing, engaging, creative, environmental journalism. Coordinated by the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE), YRE is in more than 25 countries worldwideand growing!
Participants, aged 11-21, investigate environmental issues and problems and report on them through written, photographic or video journalism, wherever possible proposing solutions.
