What is Blue Flag?
The Blue Flag is an international environmental award given to qualified beaches and marinas that meet the required standards. It is a symbol of a clean, well-maintained, well-equipped, safe and therefore civilized and sustainable environment. For beaches, it essentially represents clean sea water and then good environmental management that attaches importance to environmental education and information and has the necessary equipment. For marinas, although sea water analysis is not required, other criteria are similar.
The Blue Flag is also of particular importance for tourism with its international character. Because it is easy for people to make plans to go to a beach with international guarantees and features that they know, while going to a place they do not know for a vacation. 'Blue Flag' is therefore a powerful tool.
It is implemented in a total of 51 countries worldwide, including 30 countries in Europe. The Blue Flag Program is coordinated by the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE) and represented in Turkey by the Turkish Environmental Education Foundation (TÜRÇEV).
